Q&A with Matt Krueger

Provide one word that defines "In-House Excellence" in 2026.

Agility

What is one trend in creative operations or in-housing you are watching most closely?

The “In-House + Boutique” hybrid model of creative development.

In one sentence—what is the single most important element that moves an entry from "Good" to "Grand Prix"?

An insight about the customer that either the entry was built-on or was used to inform the story the creative is attempting to tell.

What is the #1 mistake teams should avoid when telling their campaign’s "story" in a submission?

Focusing on just the creative with no mention of the impact it had on the problem or business.

Why is it critical for in-house agencies to have their own dedicated stage for recognition?

In-house agencies must innovate within the constraints of their brand. This requires creativity under constraint, which is a unique perspective/discipline. It should have a different set of judging criteria than a traditional agency pitch. This dedicated stage provides the social proof that an in-house career can be just as meaningful with accolades as a career in traditional agencies.
